What is Hamsavidya or Hamsayoga ?

Hamsavidya is the simplest method or technique for realization of self. This technique was followed by the RISHIS and SAGES of ancient India. It is based on pursuit of the four Purusharthas namely, DHARMA, ARTHA, KAMA and MOKSHA. It means, for realizing one's Self one need not renounce the entire world and live in forests. Before attaining ultimate liberty of soul, one should discharge all his domestic duties, care for his Parents, family, Society and Nation. Simultaneously, he shall follow the practice of Hamsavidya. After his issues become major, self reliant and capable of managing themselves, all the household affairs the responsibility can be switched over in to their shoulders and he shall fully concentrate in strict penance of practice of Hamsavidya while continuing the residence with them and keeping all social contacts alive.

Prana' makes all the senses in both the physical and astral body alive. JEEVATMA lies in the bottom of the astral body in the form of 3.5 coils, in the place called Mooladhara Chakra. PARAMATHMA (the supreme power) lies above the astral body in the center of SAHASRADALAPADMA witnessing all the actions, both catastrophic and creative, by the JEEVATMA.

We directly feel the presence of the PRANA through respiration. In order to meditate smoothly, naturally, spontaneously and blissfully one should be able to control his PRANA. Because, PRANA is the master of the whole body. PRANA the emperor of our Body rules it by deputing ten Governors or Samanthas in the respective Provinces. They are PRANAN, APANAN, VYANAN, SAMANAN, UDANAN, NAAGAN, KOORMAN, KRIKARAN, DEVADAATHAN and DHANANJAYAN. In order to concentrate or meditate, first of all one should tame the master of mind that is APANAN, who would not do any act without any "written Order" from the emperor PRANA. So taming of our mind can be made only after taming the emperor of whole body ie PRANA. For taming the Prana one should practice PRNAYAMA.

All the living beings respirate 21600 times a day, consisting of a day and a night. It is "PRANA" that dominates and controls the anatomy of all the beings. PRANA" decides when we have to exhale or inhale. The entire duties of the organs of human body and the indiriays or senses are under the supervision and control of "PRANA". PRANAYAMA is that state in which PRANA becomes motionless and no inhale or exhale is performed by it. Hence MAHARSHI PATHANAJALI defined Pranayama as "SWASA PRASWASA YOOR GATHI VICHCHEDA PRANAYAMA".( Pranayama is that state where there is no inhale or exhale). But now a days some schools are preaching Prnayama as forceful control of breathing and stoppage of inhale and exhale. This practice is against the PRANAYAMA as defined by Pathanjali Maharshi. Stoppage of respiration is subject to the decision of the PRANA, not by the decision of SADHAKA and when PRANA ceases respiration SADHKA attains KEVALAKUMBHAKA, naturally and spontaneously. In such state the entire function of the Prana, the emperor of body and the other Sub-Pranas (the Governors of the Provinces) also cease and mind becomes thought less.

We Exhale with a sound "HAM...." and Inhale with another sound "SA....." thus all the living beings are chanting the Natural or Crude form of a MANTHRA "HAMSA...." Chanting of "HAMSA.." is a continuous and natural process in the body until one ends. This Crude manthra will be made scientific by making it as "AJAPAGAYATHRI" for the purpose of upasana

This manthra can be considered to be the humming sound of HONEY BEE( Jeevathma). In order to find honey bee we should follow its sounds. As such prana can be traced out and controlled easily by following its Humming "HAMSA". If we listen and follow this manthra and our mind merges with the manthra one can easily find out and control his Prana. Thus we can stop all the activities of our mind, body and shall become free from all the thoughts, thus the state described by Maharshi Pathanajali as 'Yoga chitha vrithi Niroodha'.is attained which is the real state of Meditation.

This technique is imparted by the great yogic masters in to ears of disciples very secretly that too after strictly adhering to the conditions put forward by the master. CONDTIONS are that the disciples shall abstain form, non vegetarian food, all kind of intoxications including smoking and chewing of betel leaves and areca nut, using aicoholic drings and shall conform with all moral principles. No FEE or DAKSHINA, either in kind or in Cash, is charged for it. The master helps the disciples to practice the Vidya Step by Step and equalizes the disciple gradually with the master. It is interesting to note that never in the history of True Yogic masters the disciples were taught this vidya byr receiving FEE or DAKSHINA.

HAMSAVIDYA or HAMSAYOGAM has four phases: Manthrayogam, Layayogam, Hathayogam, and Rajayogam

Manthrayogam

All the living beings are cha nting the crude or natural MANTHRA 'Ham..Sa...Ham... Sa.... 'This is the sound of JEEVATHMA. This Manthra is defective by a pause in between the lines which can be termed CEASURA. Hence chanting of this MANTHRA, as such, would not provide 'LAYA'. In order to achieve the LAYA with the Manthra one should chant it in the form of song or Gayathri. When the letters 'ha' and 'sa' are put in reverse order it would be become HAMSAGAYATHRI. This Manthra is chanted without pause in between the lines and without producing any sound vocally, but by mixing it with the inhale and exhale through the SUSHUM NANADI. In such a manner the Manthra is chanted for YOGAM.

Layayogam

The Sadhaka while continuing the practice of this Manthra shall fix his mind on PRANAVA NADAM, that becomes audible and meditate up on, while merging the mind, Manthra and with prana. When the Mind, Prana and Nada unites the 'Sadhaka' becomes a LAYAYOGI. In layayoga the prana becomes motionless and the sadhaka would feel a peculiar bliss and would continue to move into supreme state of eternal bliss gradually.

Hathayogam

The letter 'HA' stands for the Sun and 'THA' stands for the moon. 'HA' absorbs warmth (APANA) and 'THA' absorbs cold (PRANA). When the PRANA and APANA unite in the SUSHUMNA NAADI, the sadhaka becomes HATHAYOGI. There is no other means or Techniques, other than this, to attain HATHAYOGA. The Hathayogi becomes free from all the illness and becomes completely healthy.

Rajayogam

When KUNDALINI (sakthi beeja) is awakened and unites with the SHIVABEEJA in the SAHSRADALAPDAMA the Sadhaka becomes RAJAYOGI.

The Goal of Human life

Unlike all the other beings men are distinctive because of the power of rational thinking. The reason and logic enables men to realize his self. All the SASTHRAS, Scholars, and philosophers unanimously speak for it. It is only through the human body that one can realize his self and could liberate from the clutches of cycle of birth and death.

Sreevidyopasana

Hamsayogis practice Srevidyamanthra as the integral part of the Sadhana. This is possible when sadhaka become well versed with the practice of Deepini Vidya, Khrechari vidya, and Ajapavidya. The sadhaka is supposed to enjoy all the material pleasures that is achieved legibly. The practice of Sreevidya Manthra makes the upasaka capable of achieving this goal.

Hamsavidya Gurukulam Trust

To cope up with the changing needs of Truth Seekers, a Trust has been formed at Ernakulam under the name and style "HAMSAVIDYAGURUKULAM TRUST" by the disciples of present master SWAMI SREE YUTH BALAKRISHNA NATH, under his auspicious patronage and guidance. The trust is engaged in propagating the Hamsavidya all over the world by publishing books, leaflets, newsletters, conducting seminars, debates, meditation camps etc.,
